El Nispero Zoo El Valle
EL VALLE is located about 2 hours from Panama City and 1 hour from Farallon in a 6 km wide crater of a dormant volcano.

The floor of the crater was once a crater lake and is now a quiet village nestled amidst the mountains.

The temperatures are refreshingly cool for those who drive up from the beaches.  The elevation is 600m.

Stop for pictures of the breathtaking views on the drive up the windy mountain road.

El Valle is home to many places of interest.
The local market is perhaps the most notable.  The open air market is open seven days a week with local vendors and swells on Sundays when additional vendors come in with their produce and crafts.

El Nispero Zoo is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon and for those who like a touch of adventure on their vacation you may wish to visit the Ziplines or ATV rides.

There are many wonderful restaurants in El Valle including Canadian, French and Thai food.

Visit the El Valle open air market and walk amidst vendors selling local fruits and vegetables and artisans selling their local crafts such as hand woven baskets, molas, wooden bowls, paintings on feathers and many other gifts.

On Sundays the market takes on a festive atmosphere as it swells with additional vendors set their booths as well.

There are also several handicraft shops open on the same block.

El Nispero Zoo El Valle

A small zoo in the heart of El Valle with many entertaining animals.

Apparently the parrots like to talk and can be encouraged to do so if you bring some fruit as a treat for them.

The sloths are in a cage low enough that you can put your finger through the chain link fence and feel the coarseness of their fur.

The monkeys are very entertaining and love the attention of the customers.

The zoo is home to the endangered Gold Frog in the Amphibian Conservation Center (closed Tuedays)

Open daily.

Admission $3
